My time in Hist & Lit taught me to creatively challenge the status quo to pursue ideas I'm passionate about, which has been an invaluable tool for innovation. I learned to identify related themes across unrelated fields, and then become a specialist in that cross-section. No one believes me when I tell them I wrote my Harvard thesis on baseball cards, but in that very thesis I analyzed cultural storytelling, economics, legal history, political media, and social justice. I've always been passionate about creative fields and technology, so I chose to explore tech and entrepreneurship in my extracurriculars, while majoring in Hist & Lit and minoring in Studio Art to ignite my creativity and hone the written communication skills I use to lead teams and write strategy. A small department like Hist & Lit allows you to get really self-guided with your course of study, in whatever cross-section of culture and history you're interested in. I continue to bring that spirit to building an unconventional career path.
