Thesis Title: The Politics of Couture: High Fashion as a Tool of Resistance and Renewal in France, 1940-1947

What Now: Project Leader, Boston Consulting Group (BCG)

What Next: Heading to Stanford Business School to pursue my MBA

During my time in History & Literature, I focused my research and coursework on France in the 20th century. My studies focused on World War II and the construction of memory in the post-war period, culminating in my senior thesis – The Politics of Couture: High Fashion as a Tool of Resistance and Renewal in France, 1940-1947.

My experience studying Hist & Lit prepared me for and significantly shaped my consulting career at BCG. First, Hist & Lit allowed me to explore and refine my passion in the fashion industry. At BCG, I am a member of the Fashion & Luxury sector – a sector I was able to break into it in large part because of my research into the industry for my senior thesis.

Second, Hist & Lit taught me core critical and analytical thinking skills. Throughout my Hist & Lit coursework and seminars, I was challenged to form my own opinions and to refine my perspectives through constructive debate. These critical thinking and collaboration skills have direct applications to the consulting role, which requires constant thought partnership.

I truly enjoyed my experience in History & Literature, and I believe that a humanities education can be invaluable to a career in consulting and business.
